Modular Type

RESEARCH ON MODULAR TYPE

WHAT IS IT?

Modular typography is an alphabet constructed from a limited number of modules. The typeface should allow each module to contribute to any number of letterforms. It is a reusable system that carries a harmonious vertical rhythm.

EXAMPLES

From these type designs, you can see the designer has used a modular system to construct the font.
Alice Glenane, Remy Chard. This font is named 'Shadow Line' and was inspired by the architecture of The Queensland Museum, Australia. The designers deconstructed the plan, using the elements to create the forms of the typeface.
