Screen printing

To print onto paper stock that doesn't go through the printers, screen printing is used. For example, this thick yardstick that is black and glossy can not be printed on using a printer due to the thickness of it and the ink not being able to stick to the gloss. Only lithography would be effective for this or screen print.

The front and back cover design are printed onto paper as this is the most likely pages to be used with this paper stock. This is because the majority of the content is image based which requires a lot of colours and accuracy and would not translate as well through screen printing. Furthermore, screen printing is not very appropriate in relation to the book and its concept. The game and place itself is on a computer with high quality graphics through a screen, and therefore this should be translated through the design of the book as much as possible.

After tests the outcome of the prints are effective in that you can just about see the print, however they are not perfect enough to be used for the book. This is however useful for a prototype and to improve upon for the final book.
