Initial ideas for flyer

I decided to use the Hyperdelic Housers! logo to make it appear authentic and link it to the raves in Finland at the time they was most popular. I but a limited amount of information into the Finlandish typeface designed by Helsinki Type Studios to create continuity.
The first idea uses elements from the flag and sleeve design. The stretched text works well, however the layout doesn't. I used blue, inspired by the Finnish flag, to relate to the genre.

One noticeable layout decision the flyers show is the bottom two thirds of the flyer usually have a large image with the type and logo on top. This second design experiments with this. Although the layout works, the image of Mika Vainio is too dark and the whole design doesn't flow well.

The forth design uses an edit of the Sähkö logo which repeats sections and forms a layout that the text fits well into. To add more layers and colour, I added the bitmap of Mika to the left of the design, and the text from the Sähkö logo to the right in order to balance it out. The design works well as it looks hand made, like the flyers from previous raves do but with enough interest to grab peoples attention. It also links to the sleeve and flag design, portraying the genre as a whole.

The final design uses a repeated pattern from the Sähkö logo as the background of the flyer, with the Hyperbelic Housers! logo taking up the majority of the flyer in blue and the text underneath, with a difference blend tool. The square format fits in the record sleeve nicely and is minimal yet layered, like the music. However the text is roughly placed and the blend used on it isn't very effective.
