Finlandica - On a trajectory informed by Finnish industrial history, Finlandica reflects this facet of Finland.
Its strong and compressed shapes embody a traditional virtue in Finnish culture: honest and resilient determination – “Sisu”. Ink traps like cuts from a blunt ax, makes the typeface reliable in small sizes and gives it character in large headlines. Like the Finnhorse it’s a breed suitable both as riding horse and workhorse.
In the spirit of “Jokamiehenoikeus” this typeface is Open Source. The latest update to this Finlandica is a full set of Cyrillics.

Rationale for Fow Festival posters 2014: 'Like roaring beasts through the desert, the langoliers' gaping maws against the tissue of the high skies, time flows condensed into beats per minute, to minutes, seconds grinding ahead; so Chronos eats his spawn, the female spider devours the male after mating; the mill churns; keeps human flesh, the mass of muscle, moving – repeat/repeat, pulse; and from the womb of that machine the song of angels and blaring trumpets! The water squeezed from a cactus, the thorn of the sweet rose; the tooth of time; the great wheel rotates; the springs creak; life wants to live!'

2013: 'Question, doubt, revelation; like an answer to a riddle of some mysterious sphinx – emotion, Emotion! Like a dream carved in stone, a lover’s sweet embrace, a heart that’s pounding, from the wuthering heights to the depths of the Mariana Trench, a swinging spirit roars. From Malattia dei sentimenti to Ultima Dulce, the visual identity of Flow Festival 2013 takes it’s inspiration from the flickering of consciousness, it’s repressions and outbursts.
The identity for Flow Festival 2013 was inspired the eccentric theme of “emotions”. The main colour was blue with a set of four background colours.'

2012: 'In 2012 Flow Festival turned green. This time the theme behind the identity was “basic elements”, meaning earth, wind, fire etc.'
