Creative Report

The report can be printed book, poster, website, digital publication, moving image/animation, vlog diary, etc.

List of designers/studios/practitioners:
(where are they based, what do they do, are they all similar or different?)
(Why have you chosen them?)
(What do you want to find out? What answers are you looking for? How can this info help you?)

Theme could be about the digital age.

People I am interested in:
Julien Priez

Ram Han
Seoul based. Studied animation.

I would like to find out what they look at that will inform their practice. Also how they got to where they are now and if they are satisfied. Do they follow trends? Do they think their work will 'get old'? What do they want to do? What is their aim in their career? How does working digitally compared to analogue? Is there any way they would get the same satisfaction from drawing with physical materials? Is there any way they can take their work further digitally?

Kim Kyounglim
injulmi (Kim Kyounglim) is a Seoul based graphic designer, which she studied in Kookmin University. She is working as a graphic designer of the Woowa Brothers (2016-). And she is a member of the graphic design & art group an Kyoung Ho (2017-).
I have chosen them because I like their style and how they do a mixture of work.

Do they prefer physical work or work that used viewed digitally on some form of screen?

Notes:
Exploring the space between the physical world and the digital world.
Translating between screen and print.
Constantly saving images he likes from anywhere on the internet such as tumblr, then uses them for his work - to inspire or put into the content.

Works:
Forme magazine - nice layout of images placed over background of google search screen, relating to the images of that artist.
Curio Curia - google vision api uses face recognition to gather information. Used this to import an image of something weird (close us etc.) to get an image google thinks it is. Presented it with images on screen as a timeline then google image presented.
Capturing the screen - taking something on screen and making it physical. Taking screenshots of images on insta preloaded. Creates a blurry image of the final image. Used the portraits to make a book and prints.
Transient Space - https://vimeo.com/259950995 digital gallery that explore the concepts of time, space and the culture of the transient screen. Adopts screen eg. hijacks, disrupt ‘non spaces’ eg. corridors, non-traditional gallery. Identity for it is transient, fluctuating. Inspired by Jeremy Holsier ? Another inspiration China starts televising the sunrise of giant screens to uplift wellbeing due to the dark smog. Using screens can influence people's wellbeing.
Worked with Patrick Thomas and other practitioners. Median duration of looking at a piece of art in a gallery is 17 seconds so asked the designers to make a piece of art that lasted 17 seconds on the theme of disruption.

Plan
For the creative report I plan to have it as a interactive digital video. This would relate to Adam Griffins work as he is interested in the space between digital and the real world. The content will be visuals of screen recordings and images. As well as audio of a voice memo of him answering questions, with a computer generated voice asking the questions (if necessary). My own thoughts could be written out within the digital format or the whole thing as a pdf to go with the digital version.
